Winter 2013/14 Seedling Listing

Greenhouse: (336) 644-7085                 Cell: (336) 655-5883

The following listing update is of plants selected in very limited quantities! A vast majority of parent plants used in these crosses have their photos on my Photo Gallery pages. Where this is the case, I have created hyperlinks of the parent plants to those images. In this way you can just click on each parent in a cross to see what it looks like. Additionally, I encourage you to check back on the Seedlings Listing as I will be doing periodic updates of additional crosses over the winter months. This is unquestionably the best group of crosses that I have ever published to the website. I have no doubt that many AOS award winners will come from these fine offspring!  Orders will be taken on a first come first serve basis... several crosses have less than a dozen plants available.

Thank You,
Hadley Cash

Pink & White

HC3046: Skip Bartlett ‘White Pepper’ HCC/AOS x Southern Alps ‘Fortress’… Southern Alps has albinistic genetics and a huge white dorsal sepal. In pairing it with Skip Bartlett some absolute pure white offspring are to be expected. Many fine whites similar to large White Knights should dominate. 12-14cm $30, 16-18cm $35

HC3156: Amandahill ‘Muir Woods’ HCC/AOS x White Castle ‘Moon Spots’… Every single time Amandahill has been paired with a white/pink complex Paph, the results have been nothing short of phenominal! Expect huge full pinks, many with speckl;ing or spotting across blush pink and white petals. Some may even have predominantly pink dorsal sepals. Very few of these are available for sale! 12-14cm $35, 15+cm $45

HC3090: Heaven’s Grace ‘Dust Storm’ AM/AOS x Pacific Shamrock ‘First Love’… This cross is very difficult to get production from, as Heaven’s Grace rarely breeds. To pair it with Pacific Shamrock and get enough seedlings to offer for sale is a tremendous accomplishment. These could well set a new standard for very large full-formed white complex. 16-18cm $40

HC3133: Paph. Stargate (Skip Bartlett ‘White Pepper’ HCC/AOS x Friendship ‘Western Pride’)… This cross is one of only 4-5 crosses out of 3,000+ that has been made before that we have remade. Done originally by the Orchid Zone, it proved to be absolutely amazing, and its progeny have gone on to breeding fame. This strain uses Terry’s best Friendship, a $3,000-$4,000 plant. Don’t miss out on this cross… very few are available. (Limit of 3 per customer.) 12-14cm $45, 16+cm $60

Gold, Green & Honey Tone

HC3029: Alchemy ‘Titanic’ x Alex Szabo ‘Pure Gold’ AM/AOS… The pod parent here is our absolute best and most proven green/gold complex. It has a massive 17cm flower and nearly 13cm dorsal sepal width. ‘Pure Gold’ sells for $2,500 and is always a fantastic parent. I have already received awards on two front-runners of this cross; one an AM/AOS on a first-bloom seedling with 6+cm wide petals and a 10+cm dorsal. 18-20cm $35, 22-26cm $40

HC3121:  Irish Glen ‘Kryptonite Moon’ x Titan’s Gold ‘Gargantua’… Irish Glen is a massive 15cm+ flower with the fantastic genetics of Elfstone as one of its parents. Titan’s Gold is also one-half Elfstone, and ‘Gargantua’ boasts a flower of 18cm natural spread and a 13cm wide dorsal! Expect huge flowers capped by giant white dorsal sepals. 16+cm $25, 20-22 cm $35

HC3153: Lippewunder ‘Golden Towers’ x Acclamation ‘Confetti’ HCC/AOS… This cross features a massive Lippewunder, a parent that is proving to be one of the best around the world for fantastic offspring. It is crossed to ‘Confetti’, which is considered one of the best spot-petal breeders of all time. The progeny should bear very large golden flowers with wonderful size and full form, and dazzling patterning! 12-14cm $20, 16-18cm $25

HC3182: Alex Szabo ‘Pure Gold’ AM/AOS x Titan’s Gold ‘Gargantua’… Every cross that I have made using ‘Pure Gold’ has been stunning and had a number of awarded offspring. Quite simply, ‘Gargantua is one of the largest green/gold complex that I have ever seen (a natural spread of 18cm and dorsal width of 13cm+). I can’t imagine a better cross of this type, and expect magnificent size, color, and form to abound. 16-18cm $30, 20+cm $35

Red, Mohagany, & Spotted

HC3013: Far Horizon ‘Sands’ x Thunder Cat ‘Powerhouse’… ‘Sands’ is both a beautiful red complex, and a tremendous parent for very fine offspring. I have a number of excellent and proven cultivars of Thunder Cat, but ‘Powerhouse’ is my favorite. It’s exceptionally full form shows through readily in its progeny. 26-28cm $30

HC3089: Amanda ‘Joyance’ AM/RHS x Red Key ‘Ruby Treasure’… Amanda is accepted by top Paph. breeders around the world as one of the greatest parent reds of all time. Progeny often exhibit exceptionally full form. ‘Ruby Treasure’ has wonderful glowing red color and round shape, and should combine with Amanda for some remarkable offspring. 14-16cm $25, 18-22cm $30

Spotted Dorsal and/or Petals

 Primary & Novelty

HC3104: Franz Glanz: (emersonii ‘Marriott Moondust’ AM/AOS  x armeniacum ‘Black Hole Sun’ AM/AOS)… Many feel that the cross Franz Glanz is among the best of all armeniacum primary hybrids. It boasts glowing yellow/gold color on a flower that is often fuller, larger, and flatter than straight armeniacum. It is also longer lasting. This strain incorporates an emersonii that is 13.5cm across and has almost 6cm wide, amazingly flat petals. ‘Black Hole Sun’ is one of the largest armeniacums ever awarded, at 11cm+. Expect phenomenal offspring! 10-12cm $40

HC2894: curtisii ‘Althea’ AM/AOS x curtisii ‘Dark Dominion’… ‘Althea’ is considered by top Paph breeders around the world as one of the very finest examples of this species; massive dark flowers of exceptional form. It has been mated with an even darker cultivar, also with excellent size and carriage. Offspring from this strain should be among the best anywhere! 14-16cm $40

HC2998: sukhakulii ‘Powerhouse’ AM/AOS x sukhakulii ‘Marriott Leopard’ AM/AOS… Both of these sukhakulii are recently awarded superb cultivars of the species. The petals of both are 2.8-3.0cm wide and of excellent color and markings. Petal stance is almost perfectly horizontal and held on very nice stems. I have kept over 20 cultivars between this and crosses HC3000 and HC3009… all awardable, several are FCC quality first bloomers with 16+cm spread and 3+cm wide petals! 16-18cm $40

HC3000: sukhakulii ‘Marriott Leopard’’ AM/AOS x sukhakulii ‘Cow Hollow’ AM/AOS… Expect very similar quality to cross HC2998! 16-18cm $40

HC3009: sukhakulii ‘Rainforest’ AM/AOS x sukhakulii ‘Marriott Leopard’ AM/AOS… Expect very similar results to cross HC2998! 16-18cm $40

HC3031: charlesworthii ‘Fireworks’ x charlesworthii ‘Barry’s Choice’… ‘Fireworks’ has exceptional color and AM quality form, and is mated to a huge charlesworthii with over 9cm natural spread. The offspring that get the best of each parent should be fantastic. 16-18cm $35

HC3100: villosum ‘Dark Dynamo’ AM/AOS x villosum ‘Marriott Quintessence’… The pod parent used here was awarded only a few years ago and has, by far, the broadest dorsal sepal of any of the previous AOS awards… 6.5cm wide! Overall size and form are amazing. The pod parent, ‘Marriott Quintessence’, is even better than the pollen parent! I can imagine no better strain of this species anywhere. 14-16cm $35

HC3107: henryanum ‘Voodoo Chile’ x henryanum ‘Marriott Leopard Moon’ AM/AOS… Simply the best strain of henryanum imaginable. The pod parent is 9cm+ and with very fine color and form. The pod parent is 9.5cm across, with a very flat 5.2cm wide dorsal sepal, and 2.4cm wide petals! That’s nearly one inch wide petals. A new standard for the species should be set with the progeny of this cross. 12-14cm $30

HC3120: malipoense ‘Green Giant’ x malipoense ‘Spider’s Lair’ AM/AOS… ‘Green Giant’ is a massive 14cm cultivar with a Silver Medal from the German awards system. It is crossed to a 13cm flower with the darkest webbing that I have ever seen for the species. This species is one that is very difficult to get germination on and I feel fortunate to have gotten enough to offer, finally, on a listing. Don’t miss the chance to own the best that this strain offers. 10-12cm $30, 12+cm $35
